Rome’s Rose Garden (Roseto Comunale)
I was fortunate to go out with some friends and get introduced to the Aventino area of Rome. In this area is the beautiful Roseto Comunale which includes over 1,100 species of roses.

Fun fact:
The gardens were previously a Jewish cemetery. In the early 1930’s or so the cemetery was moved to Verano. Being respectful to the Jewish community , which had enabled the city to recreate the rose garden in a sacred place, the paths which divide the beds in the collection, are in the form of the menorah , the seven-branched candelabrum , a symbol of Judaism. (this can only be seen from above :))
