Discover: La Sagrada Familia by Gaudi – Barcelona, Spain
Amazing, a must-see, one-of-a-kind!
La Sagrada Familia is a large catholic church, designed by the magnificent Antonia Gaudi, located in the center of Barcelona, Spain. I am not typically a traveler who flocks to the most popular tourist attractions, but this is a must! The exterior and interior architecture is something you’ve never seen before – sooooo much detail, your eyes won’t know where to look next! Sensory overload in the best way possible.
Quick Facts:
The church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Construction started in 1882, it is still not complete as to the original plans.
Gaudí’s original design calls for a total of eighteen spires, representing in ascending order of height the Twelve Apostles, the Virgin Mary, the four Evangelists and, tallest of all, Jesus Christ. Eight spires have been built as of 2010.
